Braintree District Council won a top award in the National Association for Public Service Excellence Awards 2009 for working in partnership with Business Development Services (NWE) Ltd - the local Enterprise Agency for the Braintree area.

The awards ceremony took place at the Cardiff International Arena on the 10th September and attracted 400 entries from local authorities.

Cllr Nigel Harley a Cabinet Member for Enterprise & Culture and also a director of BDS said we are delighted BDC won this award which recognizes the work BDC does with their partners to deliver valuable services.

BDS with the support of BDC have become one of the most successful Enterprise Agencies in the East of England.

David Gronland of Micromech Ltd who is also a director of BDS was at the awards and commented that what makes BDS so special is the ongoing support local businesses get from the team, BDS don’t just give advice on starting a business then walk away, they stay with them from day one and give them the continued free guidance they may need through the first few years and further.
