YOUR LOCAL ENTERPRISE AGENCY

Learning To Jingle

Tambourine is now a successful marketing and PR company due to the support that I still receive from Gen, Graham and Andrew at BDS. The week long Planning Your Business course that BDS offer to start up businesses, enabled me to see how my marketing experience in the charity, franchise and retail sector would enable me to become self-employed.

I was confident that my 10 years experience in marketing and PR would be an asset to SME’s in the local area, but there was a large gaping hole in my knowledge when it came to figures. However, David Beckwith made profit and loss, cash flow and VAT both enjoyable and understandable, and I have been using his spreadsheets ever since. After all what is a business without a profit?

I was so impressed with the course that BDS run that I offered my services to train budding entrepreneurs in how to market their new businesses. This has been a brilliant experience as I have met some wonderful people brimming with motivation and a desire to succeed despite the economic climate and stiff competition. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them every success on their exciting journey.

Since starting my business in Braintree, I have had the privilege of working on a number of exciting projects. One of which was the production of corporate YouTube videos. This involved storyboarding and directing a film crew, dancers, actors, gymnasts and magicians and then marketing the final videos through e-shots, press releases and social media. I even got to star in one! To view it please click here, I’m the one with the red hair! www.youtube/thePTSuk

I have helped many local companies with branding, which involves evaluating their name and logo whilst working alongside a designer to produce websites, business literature and promotional items such as t-shirts, mugs and pens.

On a final note, should you be thinking of starting up your own business in the local area, then I highly recommend registering on the BDS course and networking evenings; both offer a wealth of knowledge and experience and an invaluable source of friends! Plus the best part is, it only costs you your time!
