David Beckwith
David has been working as a trainer and adviser for SMEs (small-medium enterprises) since 1982 and has helped over 7000 businesses in Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridge.
With a background in both retail management and field sales he was invited to help conduct training sessions and act as a project tutor on the first business start-up programmes at the (then) Anglian Regional Management Centre at Danbury Park. During the 1980s he set up his own advisory and training business in financial services.
In 1995 David completed the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) diploma course and was one of the first assessors in the UK for the NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) level III in Owner Management, helping new entrepreneurs gain a qualification whilst setting up their businesses.
David was admitted as a Member of the Institute of Business Advisers in 1999 and undertook ESF (European Social Fund) project work for Chelmsford and Writtle colleges, working as an adviser with local firms. In 2000/1 he was engaged as a mentor on the Evolve Élite HGSU (High Growth Start Up) initiative for Business Link and achieved SFEDI (Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative) accreditation.
Since 2002 David has been running his own training programme for Business Development Services. He stresses that it is a structured, practical programme – not just another course – which, combined with the advice and support of the whole team, provides a firm foundation for your business.
